Remember spending time outdoors as a child? A broken branch and log became a hide-away fort, or an assortment of large rocks became islands in a lava field. James Farmer will inspire children to build structures with sticks, rocks, leaves, branches, hay bales, and more. On this morning, children will be given a chance to build, imagine, and play. Recommended for ages 4-7.
"Fireflies": Outdoor Experiences for the Young Child
Children engage more deeply in the world around them when they are given opportunities for unstructured time in natural settings. Natural stimulations create curiosities and challenges that allow for change and growth in a child. MGFR is a perfect setting for children to engage in a safe, natural, and peaceful setting to ask questions, ponder, wonder, explore, create and imagine.
At each "Fireflies" a topic will be presented in a developmentally appropriate way for young children. After a short introduction, children will be allowed the freedom to "try it out." Families with older and younger siblings are encouraged to enjoy the space, too. Meet at the shelter, across the creek. Drinking water will be provided. Donations will be welcomed.
